Daryl Hall and John Oates Live at the Troubadour - now on vinyl
It was 2008 when Daryl Hall and John Oates re-visited the Troubadour in Los Angeles to mark the 50th anniversary of the club and to celebrate the last time they’d played there as the support act for Harry Chapin. This week the recording of that performance is being released on vinyl. I caught up with John Oates to learn more. Listen in to the audio here
Who knew Bobby Rydell was still knocking them dead?
In his day, (50’s-60’s) Bobby Rydell was one of the biggest teen-idols in the world. The actor and musician started performing on vaudeville and later had a string of hits – each one making the girls go weak at the knees. Today he’s almost 80 years old. He’s still performing and most of the girls are on walkers. I caught up with him for a chat and discovered he’s definitely still got it. Take a look here.

Remembering the great Lou Reed
In honour of record store day Black Friday, there’s a new 3 album set out, from one of my favourite artists of all time – the late, great Lou Reed who’s joined by Kris Kristofferson in concert at the Bottom Line Club NYC in 1994. Check out this sample of Lou doing ‘Sweet Jane’.
Lou Reed died on the 27th October 2013 from alcohol related liver disease. He was 71 years old. Below is one of the last interviews he ever did. More here
Happy 75th Birthday Brian Cadd
Brian Cadd is one of Australia’s favourite musical sons. He has been making great music since the 60’s, often with Little River Band founder Glen Shorrock. This song, A Little Ray of Sunshine is one of Brian’s best. Written to celebrate the birth of a baby, the song is now 51 years old and hasn’t lost any of its shine.
