Tito Jackson, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson on October 15, 1953, in Gary, Indiana, is a pioneering musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, most famous for his role as a founding member of the legendary Jackson 5. Growing up in a musical family, Tito’s talent became apparent at a young age. He was the one who introduced the guitar to the Jackson family’s sound, which soon became an essential element of their style. Alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, Tito helped the Jackson 5 skyrocket to fame with their groundbreaking blend of pop, soul, funk, and R&B.

In 1997 Tito and his brothers were ceremonially honored as inductees of the well-respected Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

In September 2001, nearly 17 years after their last performance together, all six Jackson brothers reunited for two performances at Madison Square Garden in New York for a 30th anniversary special commemorating Michael’s solo career.

Sudden Passing

On September 15, 2024, Jackson suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 70 in Gallup, New Mexico. Jackson was on a road trip with his business partner Terry Harvey to transport Jackson’s antique cars from California to his new residence in Claremore, Oklahoma when he began sweating and complaining of chest pains.[43][44][45] Gallup police stated they were alerted to Jackson being in need of medical attention near a mall before he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
